At the end of 2022, ChatGPT gave the impression that machines had only just learned to write. In fact, NLG text robots had been generating large amounts of text automatically for decades – using a completely different technology. Today, tools like axite have largely taken over their role.
Data first, then writing
Before large language models, automated product texts, football reports or stock analyses were usually based on Natural Language Generation (NLG): data was turned into text using rules defined by people – sentence structures, variants, synonyms and conditions for their use.
axite started long before the AI boom
axite's history goes back to 2001. As AX Semantics, the company specialised in data-based text automation and, according to its own figures, produced more than 350 million texts for over 300 customers.
The technology has changed, the core problem has not
LLMs solve flexible language generation – but not automatically the question of how reliable, good content emerges from company data.
